Japan Radio Company introduced the NRD-505, their first HF communications receiver for the amateur/SWL market, in 1977. In that year the retail price was $2,275. As shown in the table below, only 850 NRD-505 receivers were produced in 5 production runs before the model was replaced by the NRD-515 in 1979/1980. (Note that the dates of issue of production order are approximately 6 months before actual prroduction by the factory.)
